Continuing our very popular gay cosplay character series at SpunkToons, the anime artist that draws our cosplay characters wanted to do a series of guys play acting their favorite video game characters.  There aren’t too many actual gay characters in video games.   As a matter of fact, many game companies seem to go out of their way to censor any references to gay characters even denying rumors and inserting girlfriends in plot and story lines to deflect possible homosexual rumors about characters.  (I’ll be publishing an article on this a bit later in the blog).   There are a few known gay characters throughout the gaming world who make appearances in a variety of games….Birdo from Super Mario Bros. 2 who wanted to be a girl, the frog bartender “Jolly Roger” from Nintendo’s Banjo-Tooie, Zangief from Street Fighter was always thought to be gay, the character Eagle (also from Street Fighter) and a few others that will also be covered in a later article on gaming and gay characters.

Even though the gaming companies seem to shy away from having gay characters in their games, I thought our artist’s idea was a good one and commissioned this cosplay set.  Hell, if the gaming companies won’t allow gay characters in their games, we’ll just have our own cosplay convention where we make them gay!

This sample pin is of a cosplayer dressing up as the character Mega Man from the Mega Man series that was developed by Capcom in 1987.   Our character was caught a little bit out of character, answering natures call to masturbate in between cosplay performances.  Other characters in this cosplay set include Angelo from Dragon Quest 8, Chris Redfield and Albert Wesker from Resident Evil, Guile and Kazuya from Street Fighter X Tekken, Hero from Dragon Quest 8, Kyo from King of Fighters, Ryu and Sagat from Street Fighter 2, Snow Villiers from Final Fantaxy XIII, Testament and Sol Badguy from Guilty Gear XX and Yangus from Dragon Quest 8.   It’s a well rounded gay cosplay character cast all available in full sized, full color pins now in the CosPlay section of our members area.

One of the best things about fantasy art is we can make original characters personality traits the way we really hope to see them, and we can make stories featuring our favorite characters end how we want them to end!  We can even remake game characters, revising their character roles just enough to make them as perverted as our minds can imagine.  HeHe.

As I’ve said in previous blog posts, we are heading in some new directions with the art in our SpunkToons members area, moving away from more general gay art categories and focusing more on specific categories that I feel appeal more to our members.    Five new categories of art pinups were added to the members area this week and will be updated monthly.   These include, Bara, Big Cocks, CosPlay, Manga Boys, and Horny Dieties.   Here are brief descriptions of the art in each category:

Bara – Manly men, chubbs, bears, and muscle hunks.   These pinups will focus on men having sex in a variety of situations that we all have heard of, or perhaps fantasize about.   Men having sex in a truck stop, greasy mechanics fucking in a dirty garage, or daddy bears stroking their meat and much more.   This section will be updated every month with a new pinup set.

Big Cocks – This one pretty much goes without explanation!  I mean if you need me to explain what might be in a Big Cocks gallery then perhaps you are reading the wrong blog!  LOL!   All kidding aside, this gallery category will feature pinup sets focusing on men and huge cocks emphasizing both the pain and pleasure they can bring for the owners of these protruding monsters!   A new pinup set will be added every month to this category.  

CosPlay – This section was born of an idea from one of our regular contributing artists and is a series of pins of guys dressing up as their favorite anime / manga character and instead of just being in character according to the original manga or anime storyline, we take it one step further and let our CosPlayers enjoy the sex between characters that we all dream about seeing in our mangas or anime videos.    We will be adding a new set of gay sexual CosPlay pins to this category every month.

Manga Boys – Everyone has their favorite manga characters, many of which aren’t gay, but that never stopped us from wishing they were!   In this gallery collection your favorite male manga characters come alive as parodies of their original characters, but in our pinups they are surely gay, and doing what horny gay men love to do!   There will be a new set of Manga Boys every month.  

Horny Dieties – As I mentioned in previous posts, I’ve been doing research on the Greek and Roman dieties and mythology, and in that research realized quickly that there was a lot of sexuality among these hulking and apparantly very horny men!   So after testing some pinups of Greek Gods with one of our artists and loving the result, I’ve decided to make it a regular gallery section in our members area.   We will update this section every other month for now until I know more about how it is received by our membership.  

Gay Superheroes – We have actually been having pinup sets of gay superheroes drawn for us for some time now, however I decided to finally put them in a category of their own so that they are easier for our members to find.   You will find parodies of your favorite men in tights in this category and it is updated monthly with a new gallery.

Many anime fans around the world have fantasized about the nuances of gay love between certain male characters in a variety of anime OVA videos as well as manga comics. At conventions, in private, and in the day of video sharing, they perform them for an audience on sites like YouTube, exploring the stories through their cosplay and many times redefining the outcome to fulfil their own fantasy of what they want the characters to be.

In my opinion, and for a variety of reasons, these cosplay actors always stop short, not really depicting the complete gay relationship between their characters as the physical side of the gay relationship is never consumated. So I have often wondered, what if Anime cosplay included sex? Would it ruin the fantasy or propell it to new heights? Would it strip the characters down to their baser persona possibly removing some of the mystique about who they are or what might be? Perhaps it would strip these characters of their “innocence” and they would then lose all their character appeal? Of course, many of the yaoi cosplay actors are girls and we wouldn’t really want to see them acting out gay sex between two male anime characters…now would we?

I have always been fascintated with the possibility that somewhere, someday, at some anime convention, there would be a special secret theater where cosplay with actual sex would happen. No more wondering if L and Light from “Death Note” are gay, or if Shuichi and Eiri Yuki from “Gravitation” ever get to have a real gay relationship…we would get to see them in a very physical gay romantic scene, thus completing the fantasy.

To explore this part of cosplay, and since I doubt we’ll ever see gay cosplay that includes sex at any conventions in the near or even the not so near future, I have commissioned a few of the artists that draw for the SpunkToons site to create cosplay pinups depicting our favorite anime characters fulfilling the gay fantasies we have about them. We’ll be publishing several gay cosplay pinup sets each month featuring gay sexual relationships between our most fantasized male anime characters.

Cosplay is a form of art and the term stands for “costume play”, but the Japanese use the easier short version Cosplay more frequently. One of the most well-known niches in the cosplay is the animegao, or dollers as it is often called. This niche is usually performed by gay men who enjoy seeing other men wearing female outfits. Japanese do take the cosplay really seriously so they do everything to make sure that they make an excellent representation of the character. The member performing a Doller wears a bodysuit and a mask and it hides all of its male appearance making him look like a complete and perfect woman. For these types of characters, members display an amazing characterization of manga, in which the eyes are oversized and the mouths are really tiny.

Most of the time, members and participants of cosplays are people in the art and design industry. They specialize in fashion design, face painting and sculpture. Costumes vary depending on the interests of those involved, but cosplay is usually one of the most extraordinary forms of seeing a manga or anime in real time, and even more exciting when its a sexual cosplay.
