I’m a little bit late getting into the spirit of Christmas this year, not sure why, but I decided to cure that today with some YouTube video therapy. I did some searches for Yaoi christmas videos and gay anime christmas and came up with some interesting videos. Once I started watching them, and listening to the classic Christmas songs that the creators of the fan sub videos used, I found myself singing along, my mood lightened, and alas the Christmas spirit was finally awakened in me!

Almost as if on que, I then got an email from one of our favorite gay cartoon websites, Class Comics, announcing an exclusive digital comic all about Christmas cheer and lots of hot man sex! Wow! It’s like they read my mind! I clicked through to the Class Comics site and took a look at the art in this Christmas special comic and, typical of Patrich Fillion and Logan (the artist on the Christmas comic) it was chock full of hot guys and hot hot hot Christmas sex.

A new gay manga is taking shape and is the creative work from one of our favorite artists here at SpunkToons.  For over 4 years Fallen Angel has been a contributor for the SpunkToons members galleries with his series called “Magically Enhanced”, a cute gay hentai series about what a little magic can do when you wish hard enough.

Fresh off his latest works for the SpunkToons site, Fallen Angel says that an idea for a new comic started taking shape about 6 months ago and he couldn’t get the idea out of his mind.  Working with his friend, DinosaurPrince, who contributed his proof reading and editing skills, Fallen came up with the first gay comic storyline that is not posted in his blog.  The comic is what Fallen Angel is calling a Bi-Manga, and that’s code for a manga that includes both Yaoi and Hentai.

Inspiration for this first storyline came from a comic drawn by his friend Niki who had previously published an online comic called “Last Horizon” which was removed by his web host for ‘sensitivity issues’, but has since gone on to create a new story called “Honey Delirium” which can be read oh his blog.

Character inspirations for Fallen’s new comic come from a variety of other artists that have inspired him along the way.  You may see influences from artists John Carter from Mars Art Covers, Boris Vallejo and his fantasy art, old Greek illustrations and several other fantasy artists.  Some of the Manga read by Fallen Angel (Berserk, Queen’s Blade, Ninja Scroll) has also played an important role in the development of his story lines and panel construction.

Having loved the fantasy genre for quite a long time, it’s natural that Fallen Angel would make that the setting for this new comic work.  Because the fantasy genre is just that, all fantasy, an artist can pretty much mix into it any other genre that he / she wants without losing the reader.

As a long time fan of Fallen Angel’s work, I’m happy to see him start producing this new comic and hope that he finds success with it and we see new issues regularly.  I’ll look forward to reading each issue as it gets published.   Read the first edition of Fallen Angel’s new comic, “King’s Sword”, here.

I am always on the hunt for more gay anime, hentai and manga art.   I love to see what others are drawing and their interpretations of famous anime and manga characters through their fan art.   One of my favorite places, and I’m sure it’s one of yours as well, for new art is the Deviant Art site.    Today, I was reading an article on the TechCrunch blog (yeah I read geek blogs too) was an article on the Pixiv website.

Now I have heard of Pixiv before as it is one of the largest sites in Japan featuring mostly user submitted art, a natural place for seeing others fan art, but I had dismissed it because it’s mostly straight art featuring anime girls.    After reading the article today though I did some searching around the site and it seems there is quite a bit of gay art there as well, you just have to search for it.   I did a search for Bara and was pleased to see about 10 pages of images in response to my query.    I searched for gay anime and came up with a bunch more pages, but even with these search terms, I still had to sort through the straight pics to find the gay ones.    But they are there.    You just gotta search.

Put the Pixiv site in your bookmarks, if it isn’t already, and do some digging around and see what you come up with.   According to the TechCrunch article, the site is about to roll out a major redesign to make it more of a social art sharing site where you can follow your favorite artists, get their update feeds, and share their pics among your friends….sort of the facebook of fan submitted art if you will.

Yaoi Place offers gay hentai and comics for adults only.  Their tour is colorful, shows all sorts of toon guys having gay sex, insanely large dicks getting stroked, sucked and shoved into tight assholes.  There are hunky studs, horny twinks, bondage, ancient Egyptians and even some shemales – including one with cat ears. The site offers daily updates, downloadable videos includingvids  for mobile, and large resolution pics offered in downloadable zip files.  Sound good?  Then join me as I log in for a look at what the member area has to offer.

The Yaoi Place member home page is easy to use.  There’s navigation links running across the top of the page, and then a gallery (possibly the newest), followed by the latest updates, all dated and showing the number of pics and member rating.  The site has updated every day for almost a month, and there are currently 13 videos and 58 galleries, but here’s where I run into a question. After some searching, I find that the site has been around for over 2 years, yet all the content is dated from the last month.  That means either that the content is being recycled or that the old content was all removed and the site started fresh recently.  Your guess is as good as mine – let’s go check out the toon action!

THe pics here are arranged in galleries.  Some of the galleries are series pics, where others simply have random unrelated pics in the same grouping.  The pics are good quality, and are sized from 568×800 to 1184×1680.  Each gallery can be downloaded in a zip file, or if you prefer something different, as a PDF.  The PDF has all the pics embedded, and reads like an ebook, and I thought this was a cool way of browsing.

Let’s talk about the Yaoi Place videos.  While there aren’t that many of them, the ones I watched were nice and long – from 28 minutes to just under an hour.  On the other hand, I watched several, and only one had any gay sex – these were fully plotted anime movies, but not always porn.  Even the sex I did see wasn’t explicit.  The videos are available in WMV, sized at 640×480 at average quality, in MP4 format a bit smaller, and some are also available in MP4 for mobile devices.  Last, there’s a streaming version for those who prefer not to download.  All the videos are DRM-free, always a plus.

The galleries offer all sorts of action and all sorts of guys.  There are soccer players, college guys, massive muscle men, twinks, super heroes and all sorts of fantasies.  Expect a mix off guys sucking cock, plenty of fucking, kissing and jacking off.  Art styles here are mixed, so expect both western and Asian styles.  If you’re a gay manga porn fan, you will find somewhat less aliens than at some sites, but plenty of big – and often uncut – toon cocks.

Members also get access to 3 toon feeds – Gay Illustrated and Hunky Hentai offer galleries, and Gay Life offers a sexy and campty gay cartoon series in 6 parts that’s well worth watching.

Did the site have any issues?  There’s a pre-checked cross sale on join page.  Also when I clicked the link to the Manga & Comics section, I was disappointed to get a message that there was no content in that section. And last, the Hot Sites section are sites you must join – they’re not included with your membership.

Yaoi Place comes through with 58 hentai pic sets and 13 videos, daily updates plus some gay good toon feeds.  While the update dates show that the site updates every day, sometimes with more than 1 set, all the content shows dates from the last month, yet the site has been around for over a year. Your guess is as good as mine here, however the content delivers, and the videos are nice and long, if not always that sexual. The bottom line – gay anime lovers will find this site is worth a visit.

The second annual Bent Con has come and gone, and once again, it appears to have been a big success!  Held on December 3rd and 4th at the Westin Bonaventure hotel in downtown Los Angeles, California, many of the gay communities iconic cartoon artists and their fans were in attendance.

The aim of the convention, from it’s inception, is to celebrate, encourage, and support all those associated with creating gay creative arts including artists, producers, writers, directors, and showcase their works for a LGBTand LGBT-friendly audience.  Previous to the inception of Bent Con, gay comic art was lost in the sea of art and artists at some of the larger comic conventions and this budding annual event brings focus to a community of art and artists that was lacking.

Up from approximately 20 vendor booths last year, this years’s Bent Con had grown to include between 50 and 70 vendors, a host of panel disscussions, a cosplay fashion show and some film screenings of new and upcoming films.  The schedule for panel discussions was packed with tons of informative, insightful and fun topics including “Classically Gay: Humor in Comics”, “Drawn This Way: Gay Male Erotic Comics”, “Tom of Finland: Super Foundations” and much more.  There was definately something for everyone in the panel discussion schedule.

There were also tons of one on one interviews and question and answer sessions with some of the LGBT most iconic artists, writers and producers…Michael Manning, (author of “Spider Garden”, “Hydrophidian”, “In A Metal Web” and “In A Metal Web 2″), Joe Phillips, creator of “Joe Boys”, “The House Of Morecock” and “Stonewall and Riot”, Writer Jane Espenson, Wendy Pini, known for her “Elfquest” creation that blends erotic sci-fi with Yaoi and Manga, and too many more to list here.   You an still read the entire Bent Con schedule of the event on the Bent Con Website

Bent Con after dark from 9 PM to 2 AM featuring premiers of movies of interest to the LGBT community that have never been seen before.  This was a definate change from the year before and a nice addition that gave a chance for many to screen films that have yet to be released, as well as those that might have been missed when they were originally released.  This event looks like it was a great way to get up to speed on what films are of interest and available to us gay comic lovers as well as get sneak previews of films to come.

From the schedule of Bent Con and the videos and photos I have seen from this second annual LGBT gay comics convention, I would have to say that it came off as a big success.  Next year promises to be even bigger, with more artists, more booths, more film screenings, and tons more fun.

It’s been quite a while since I’ve done an artist profile in the blog so I reached out to Max Gnin, more popularly known as Gninrom from the Gnin’s Dimension blog where he showcases his original slash fan art.

When I contacted Gnin, he origianally pointed me to the fun interview that Jezza Smiles did of him back in November of last year.  After reading Jezza’s interview and Gnin’s answers to his questions I threw a bunch more probing questions at Gnin so that we could find out a bit more about his artistic background and find out what motivates him when he creates such vividly sexual art.

How old were you when you realized you liked creating gay art?

I don’t remember how old i was but i was very young.I drew alot of half naked ninja guys with huge bulges and hid them between my Donald Duck comics, hahaha! I think my mom found them once! She gave me a weird look during a breakfast and asked did i like drawing ninjas.

Do you remember your first published art piece?

Yeah i do. It was painting of a nude man and it was published in a gallery in Pori. Someone even bought it.

Where were you first published as an artist?

Here in Finland. I made a lot of oil paintings back then, most of them were very tame.

Did you grow up in Finland?

Yeah i did and i hated it. I grew up in a small town with small minded people, hahaha!

Do you plan to stay in Finland the rest of your life?

Tough question, i think i have pretty much everything right now. Nice home, loving partner, 2 cats, a wonderful job and great friends. I’ve been very lucky to get all this =D.

Do you have any published comics?

No, not yet. I’m working on 6 comics that are my own titles and i have 3 other comic orders. Making a book takes a decade, especially when you have a ton of commissions under work at the same time. I think i’ll be able to publish my first titles during 2012.

Has your art style changed since you first started drawing?

Many, MANY times! Though i always loved to draw big cocks XD!

What artist most influenced you in your style?

There’s so many, but right now i don’t think anyone specific. I think it’s only good though, it means that you’ve found your own style, it’s very important.

Do you have any formal art training?

No, i don’t have a formal art training. I think pretty much everything is self taught. I’ve just been observing talented people a lot =D.

What inspires you to create a new drawing?

Characters really. Personalities, how they look and how they act. If i find them sexy, i’ll grab my pen and get some smut done. Some situations and scenes in games and animes trigger many ideas too. Some beautifully drawn gay art can be a huge inspiration also!

Do you focus mainly on slash fan art?

Usually yeah! It never gets old and it’s always fun! Later on when i have more time, i’ll concentrate on my comic books and OC characters.

What types of characters are your favorites?

Hmmm… It depends. When it comes to drawing man smut, it’s definitely the Chris Redfield and Ichigo Kurosaki type of guys. I like buff but i also like the lean anime heroes =D.

Do you ever inject your own fantasies into your characters or their interactions with other characters?

No i don’t think i do. My fantasies aren’t as perverse as the images or the things i draw, hahaha! I love pushing the limits in my pics, that’s why there’s often a lot of shock value.

I notice you are big on playing games.  Which, if any, of your favorite game characters have you done fan or slash art of?

Reply: HAHA!! ALL OF THEM!! At least most of them, if i only had more time =D. Deus Ex3, RE5, Alpha Protocol and Assassin’s Creed has been my recent favorites regarding game slash art. Next i’d love to make some Saints Row 3, GTA4, RAGE porn. They’re all fun games!

Do you have a life partner / lover / soulmate?  If so, how does he influence your art?

Yeah i do! He’s wonderful! He supports me 110%. I think it’s amazing. It doesn’t go like that with everyone so i’m very thankful i have such a supporting bf.

Does your family know the type of art you make?   Are they supportive?

Yes!! HAHAHA! My mom is a huge fan! She has my every pic.

Where do you work during your day job?

I started doing PR for random companies some time ago and love it. Before that i worked as an AD team leader for a big advertising company. It paid well but took all my time and energy. I rather draw porn and get paid for mingling and making new contacts.
It’s super fun and the celebs here in Fin are absolutely crazy, i love working with them XD!

What one thing about yourself do you think would most surprise your fans?

That i genuinely care about them. I know most of my fans personally and they know i’m always there for them. They’re very important to me =D.

How long does it take someone to get a commission piece from you?

Normally couple days, right now couple weeks at least, depends of commission.
Commissions should never be rushed so i usually take my time with them.   Gnin does take commission requests and you can find more information about the types of commissions he does and his rates and work backlog in his blog.

Stud Toons has been around for a while, with a tour offering 1000′s of toon images, exclusive content, gay toon “fantasy videos”, video games and Flash animations.  The tour gives a sort of overview, which features slender but muscular guys, big cartoon cocks and plenty of anal sex, blowjobs and all that good stuff. Ready to find out more about Stud Toons?  Then join me as I log in for a closer look!

The member home page surprised me. Why? Because very little on it was actual toon content – almost everything on the page is either an ad or regular non-toon gay porn.  The toons are found via the “Gallery” link on the left, and you can find the same toon galleries in the “Photo Albums” section.  At the bottom of the page, below a cluster of banner advertising, are links to various players in case you need them. I don’t see any update listings or dates, so let’s check out the content.

The Stud Toons Gallery section offers 22 pages of toon galleries. There’s some Asian style art, including big eyed, huge cocked bodybuilders and twinks, plus some western cartoon art.  There’s lots of kissing pics, plenty of hard dicks and fucking, and some pics where the guys are totally dressed.  Many of the pics I visited were around 750×548, and most are good quality. One thing that annoyed me is that the link at the top of the page, to premium gay galleries, leads to an expired domain.

While Stud Toons doesn’t offer any anime or cartoon videos, there is a link to a long-running gay comic book in the videos section – go figure!  It’s the first feed listed on the page, and has 283 pages.  The art isn’t complex, and there’s not a lot of plot, but there’s plenty of toon sex. I found a link to another toon feed on the videos page, called XXXposed studs, but when I clicked the link, it didn’t work – instead I was taken to a page that said “Forbidden”.

Two more sections include the Video Arcade and Erotic Stories.  The stories are a small collection of gay erotic tales that you may have seen before, but if you haven’t seen them, they’re worth a read.  I wasn’t able to get the games to work – each one opened in a new window that said “require(“direct.php”);”.

And as far as I can tell, that’s about it for the toons.  The rest of the links are extras to all sorts of feeds from frat guys and bears to gay interracial and ethnic men. And here I ran into another issue – around half of the feeds don’t work. Some say “unauthorized” when you try to enter, others are on bad domains, and one said “Oops!  There seems to be a problem!”  Still, there are many feeds that work, but it may take a lot of clicking to figure out which ones they are.

I was disappointed by Stud Toons.  It didn’t have much toon content, and I couldn’t find any animated videos at all. Not only that, but it seems that only updates are in the regular gay porn feeds and possibly one comic book feed. Not only are there only 22 galleries of Anime and western drawn guys, but many of the non-toon feeds and some of the features didn’t work, and the site is packed with ads. For me, the best the site had to offer beside the galleries are the 3 reality sites on the right side of the member home, and they do work. The bottom line is that Stud Toons doesn’t have that much in the way of either Anime or regular gay porn, and the monthly price is pretty steep, but some may find it worth a look.
