Continuing our very popular gay cosplay character series at SpunkToons, the anime artist that draws our cosplay characters wanted to do a series of guys play acting their favorite video game characters. There aren’t too many actual gay characters in video games. As a matter of fact, many game companies seem to go out of their way to censor any references to gay characters even denying rumors and inserting girlfriends in plot and story lines to deflect possible homosexual rumors about characters. (I’ll be publishing an article on this a bit later in the blog). There are a few known gay characters throughout the gaming world who make appearances in a variety of games….Birdo from Super Mario Bros. 2 who wanted to be a girl, the frog bartender “Jolly Roger” from Nintendo’s Banjo-Tooie, Zangief from Street Fighter was always thought to be gay, the character Eagle (also from Street Fighter) and a few others that will also be covered in a later article on gaming and gay characters.
Even though the gaming companies seem to shy away from having gay characters in their games, I thought our artist’s idea was a good one and commissioned this cosplay set. Hell, if the gaming companies won’t allow gay characters in their games, we’ll just have our own cosplay convention where we make them gay!
This sample pin is of a cosplayer dressing up as the character Mega Man from the Mega Man series that was developed by Capcom in 1987. Our character was caught a little bit out of character, answering natures call to masturbate in between cosplay performances. One of the best things about fantasy art is we can make original characters personality traits the way we really hope to see them, and we can make stories featuring our favorite characters end how we want them to end! We can even remake game characters, revising their character roles just enough to make them as perverted as our minds can imagine. HeHe.

Kazuma Kodaka’s “Kizuna: Bonds Of Love” manga was a ground breaking manga when it was first published in 1994 in that it was the first known manga to prominently feature a gay relationship between two guys. During this period of time, publishing a story about an openly gay relationship in a manga was just unheard of, but was a subject many manga fans had yearned for, earning this series an immediate following and and explosion in popularity. Although the series ended officially in 2008, there are many fans who fondly remember the often challenged romance between young sweet Enjouji Kei and Kendo competitor Samejima Ranmaru. The story of their love that grew from an uneasy friendship to being live in lovers and was often times rocky, unsure and full of both temptations and trials, but these two fated lovers seemed to weather it all and stick by their love of each other. While some in the world castigate gay relationships as being trivial or detrimental to heterosexual marriages those naysayers would do well to observe the determination and courage these two young men displayed fighting off all challenges to stay together in a love that would outlast many others.
This newest pinup set features a cosplay scenario where two young guys assume the identities of Enjouji and Ranmaru and live out their relationship bringing this very famous manga to life. In this pinup cosplayers are depicting Enjouji and Ranmaru enjoying a very intimate moment on the sofa in their living room and the rest of this cosplay set we get an artists rendition of what might actually have happened had Kazuma Kodaka pushed the envelope even further in displaying this long running relationship by featuring more of the physical aspects and intimacy that a couple in love shares together. While the manga was edgey for it’s 1994 release, I’m sure that this would have been too much for the original audience to accept and would have been met with severe criticism…however, it is now 17 year later, the world is a much different place, and gay love is being accepted in many places around the world.

When the SpongeBob SquarePants series first launched in 1999 the second episode was titled “Bubblestand/Ripped Pants” and was the beginning of the show’s enormous popularity that it still maintains today after more than 10 seasons.
