The GayToonsH gay cartoon website tour shows off horny anime guys with round asses, hard cocks, and sometimes blue or green hair.  The tour features them in a mix of solo, romantic and hardcore fucking pics.  The site doesn’t offer a lot of specifics like how frequently new content is added, but does offer members “big updates on a regular basis”, hentai comics and gay toon videos, as well as real life “super human” cocks.  Ready to learn more?  Then join me for a look at the member area of GayToonsH.

The member home page was a bit of a surprise after the colorful tour, and I felt a little let down. It’s a big page, spread out with no toon guys or color anywhere. On the left is a link to the next big update, which is scheduled to go live 33 days from the day of this review. It is a big update, as claimed on the tour, the list showing that 11 toon galleries, 6 video clips, 83 Dojins and 11 real guy galleries are all to be added.  I found that surprising, ’cause at the moment the site only offers 17 galleries in 3 categories, 84 comic pages and 2 pages of videos, plus 9 live guy pages. Let’s look further.

Some of the GayToonsH galleries offer 15 pics per page, and while some are only a page or 2, a few offer up to 200 pics each gallery.  Pics are on the small side, ranging from 364×480 to 500×612. Some seem to be good quality, well colored pics, while others seem to be low to medium quality magazine scans. There’s also a black and white section, which is mostly western-style erotic art, and features a mix of sketches and inked drawings, some in the style similar to Tom of Finland.

The videos were a let-down. There are 2 pages of them, the first with 10 WMV’s and the second with 17 MPG’s. While that doesn’t sound bad for a toon site, these are pretty small, shown at 320×240 to 364×480 at under 200k, and each one I downloaded was a clip, not a full scene, and ran between 15 and 25 seconds. Quality isn’t bad in most, and I might have liked the videos if they had been longer, however I downloaded a number of them, and most didn’t actually show any cock.  The video clips are downloadable and DRM-free.

Now let’s talk about the Dojins section. This is actually where the comic pages are. Many seem to be scanned from actual comics, and so it’s not surprising to find some black and white, and some comics that are not in English.  While there is definitely some gay sex and male nudity shown here, there’s not actually that much, and some of the sex isn’t explicit. The thumbs are very small, so small that there’s often no way to guess what the larger pic shows without clicking.

There’s a lot of variety here, a mix of western cartoon men with big cocks and the kind of Asian Anime that is the staple of gay hentai sites. There’s hunks, plenty of toon guys sucking cock, rimming and some fucking, as well.  I didn’t find a lot of the impossibly gigantic dicks that you see in a lot of similar sites, nor are there many super heroes or heroic fantasy scenarios. The black and white section has a fair selection of muscled leather men, not to mention some bondage.

As a bonus, there are 9 galleries of photos of guys getting naked, stroking their cocks and fucking. The pics are small (400×600), quality is so-so, but it is something else for members to check out, although I’d have rather seen a few gay toon feeds instead.

Let’s talk issues.  The site’s next update, which is scheduled a little over a month in the future, is supposedly as large as 75% of the picture section the the site currently offers. I’ve had my eye on this site for several months, which means they couldn’t update regularly even once a month with this much content or the site would be much larger.  Does this mean the site is now planning to add much more content than it has in the past or that it doesn’t really update?  There’s no way to know.

I find GayToonsH to be a mixed bag. There’s lots of comic pages, and while the gallery collections aren’t huge, they offer more than a lot of other gay anime sites do.  There’s plenty of Hentai guys, and lots of hard toon cocks in action, but there’s also lots of softcore and fully dressed guys, as well.  The pics are on the small side and the videos, which are downloadable, are very short clips, but the monthly price is pretty reasonable.  Is the site worth joining?  Well, it does have the issues above, but if you like the type of toon art you see on the tour, GayToonsH could be worth checking out.

For as long as I can remember, and in as many cities, and countries, that I’ve been, city parks have always held some magical allure for gay men cruising for other gay men to hook up with.   I know from stories I’ve read that years ago meeting in parks and having sex behind bushes was almost necessitated because of the social taboo of two men checking into a hotel together.

I remember growing up and watching re-runs of old American Westerns … shows that were sanctioned by my ultra religious parents … and I grew to love the all macho version of the American cowboy.   Little did I know that this fascination with macho cowboy men was the first indications of my true self, the first signs that I was attracted to manly men.   It wasn’t until I reached my twenties and was able to look back on those early childhood days that I was able to credit that period, and the love of watching old American Westerns as my first identification with being gay.

So, being the ‘creative force’ (hahahaha) behind the SpunkToons.com website, I have taken liberties on more than one occasion with rewriting history.   In this case, I asked our gay comic artist to create some new scenes from the old wild American west and this time to include some gay action in it!

Comic-Con has just announced that early bird hotel bookings are now being accepted for this year’s Comic-Con in July (July 11 – 15).  There are a limited number of hotel rooms available at a pre-booking discount rate so get over to the Comic-Con booking agent’s website and reserve your room now.    You have to prepay the room and there is no refunds if you change your mind so be sure you are going to attend before you book the rooms!   These rooms are out in the Mission Valley area (a little outside the city center on the North East side) and there will be shuttle service to and from the downtown convention center (limited service hours on July 11 for previewers and then 24 hours a day until the 15th).

While I was reading through the Comic-Con site, I noticed a little banner in the lower right sidebar that information on 2012 show badges will be made available sometime soon and that there will be NO onsite registration at the convention!  They started this practice of pre-registration only in 2008 and it does not seem to have cut into their attendance numbers.   As a matter of fact, they sold all 2011 show badges in a single day!   You must also register on the Comic-Con website and obtain a member ID before you will be allowed to register.   You must have a 2011 badge to pre-register for the 2012 Comic-Con, an obvious nod toward their most loyal attendees, and the rest of you who didn’t make it in 2011, well, you have to wait until the open online registration starts…which will be announced soon.

Be sure to get over to Comic-Con’s website and get your membership ID now so that when registration does open you will be able to get your foot in the door of the convention!

The Gay Comics website shows plenty of what toon lovers want to see – guys kissing, fucking, eating ass and sucking dick, not to mention faces dripping with cum. There aren’t a lot of specifics on the tour, but you can get an idea of what the site has to offer.  There’s some bondage and BDSM, interracial ass pounding, muscle men, outdoor sex, daddies and group action. I like the variety I’m seeing, so join me as I log in and check out the member area.

Gay Comics is easy to navigate, offers 228 galleries and 8 videos, but while that may not seem like much, they’re over 30 minutes each, and at least 2 are around an hour long.  There are no dates on the updates, and the last time an update was mentioned was Christmas eve, 2011, which is a little over a month ago.

The videos are downloadable WMV’s shown at 640×480 with bitrates around 1.3 Mbps. Quality is pretty good, although you will notice a loss of sharpness if you enlarge the videos to full screen.  Sound is good, too, and so is the animation. In fact, the animation is definitely some of the better stuff I’ve seen in toon sites, professional and appealing.  And very hot.

There’s a variety of artistic styles in the PICTURES section.  I found Anime, western toons, colored sketches and more.  Art quality varies, too – some is quite well done, some offers less in the way of shadows, color and realism, and some is fairly primitive but gets the job done. Pictures vary from around 584×826 to 1000×700, and the pics are offered at good quality – no blurring, muddy colors or other issues here.  Some of the sets are more like comic books, with multiple frames on each page, but I didn’t find many with dialog. Still, there’s plenty of ass-pumping gay sex in vivid color

Gay Comics offers plenty of variety from horny college boys in action to office sex. There are a few Santa sets (and isn’t Jolly Old Nick the ultimate bear?), bald headed daddies sucking cock, bodybuilders, interracial toon action and more – lots more. I didn’t run into a lot of super heroes or many impossibly massive dicks, but you will find a military men in some kinky stuff, a mechanic getting down and dirty, and some group sex.  You’ll also find jedis getting it on, ninjas and trannies. Not sure trannies really fits here, but there’s a fair amount of these horny chicks with dicks with big tits and cocks.

Does this site have issues? Well, there’s no way to know how often updates occur, and it doesn’t seem to be that often at a glance. I would have liked to browse by category as the search feature didn’t work that well – I saw plenty of uncut toon cocks, but a search for “uncut” didn’t get any results.  But other than these things, there’s not a lot to complain about.

Gay Comics doesn’t focus on comics, but they do deliver plenty of horny toons in action, including Anime and western styles.  Offering 228 galleries and 8 long, downloadable videos, there’s a lot more to see here than in most toon sites. Where things get sticky is that lack of update info and possibly infrequent updates. For the price, I’d like to see regular updates and perhaps a bonus site or some feeds. Still, if you love watching cartoon cocks getting sucked, and hardcore toon sex, I’d suggest you check out the Gay Comics website and see more of what they have to offer.

Sometime in 2010, Archie Comics revived their  Life with Archie comic book which had been shelved in 1991.   This series featured Archie in facets of his life that were a bit more adventurous than the typical Archies Tales comics and was always a bit edgier than the regular Archic comic stories.

When the series started publishing again in 2010, the publishers wanted to keep with the more socially progressive and more socially relvant side of the comic but have it represent the world in which we all live today.    Can’t imagine they could use social “norms” of 1991 in a new comic today and have it read, much less relevant to what is going on in the world today.

One of the riskiest moves the Archie Comics company made was introducing a gay character, Kevin Keller, who was originally only slated to make a brief appearance but who ended up becoming a very popular character in the Life with Archie comic series.   It was quite controversial at the time to put a gay character in such a main stream comic, and many predicted it’s demise, but according to the co-chief executive of Archie Comics, Jon Goldwater (the founder’s son), there have been less than 10 cancelled subscriptions resulting from the introduction of Kevin Keller since the issue in which he was introduced.

As Kevin’s popularity among Life with Archie readers grew, Archie Comics decided to give Kevin Keller his own monthly series..very similar to what was done for Jugghead, Betty, and Veronica.

Now in it’s 16th issue since being republished in 2010, Life with Archie takes another bold move and features Kevin Keller in the first ever gay marriage in Archie Comics history.    Kevin will marry the African-American doctor, Clay Walker, that patched him up when he was wounded as a soldier in Iraq.

Talk about progressive comics!   Bravo to the Archie Comics company for daring to take this very pro-gay stance!

Over the recent holiday period I’ve been researching the origins of Bara and Yaoi art, reading a ton of Wikipedia articles and following links to an uncountable number of websites and blogs trying to get a good grasp on the origins,  history and timeline of Bara and Yaoi art.  I’ve gone back in history to the early 1600′s in ancient Japan when woodblock printing, Ukiyo-e, was one of the most sought after forms of art.

Like most almost every art medium in our history, there are always those artists that will use their talents to explore sexuality and Ukiyo-e is no exception.   In Ukiyo-e art, Shunga is the niche that focused on the depictions of erotic scenes.

While most of the Shunga artists focused on female-male sexual relationships there were those that would venture into scene depictions of men having sex with men, women with women (even more rare) and men having sex with younger men, very much similar to what would later become the overriding concept behind Yaoi art.

In this print by Kitagawa Utamaro, a younger man in the role of a temple page has been made available to one of the monks who is pursuing the “Way of the Youth”, in what appears to be a common practice of the day.   This was common not only in temples among monks and their pages, but also among the samurai class of famed warriors.

As I continue to read and follow history back I can’t help but wonder if the Shunga niche within the Ukiyo-e art style was one of the earliest forms of what today we call Yaoi.
